I bought a dozen of these. They are not nice glasses. Buy these glasses for large parties but not for personal consumption of bubbles. The rims are thick and the glasses are short and squatty. If you drink sparkling often or drink Champagne, please do not use these. Invest in something better

I must admit to a predilection toward nice glasses for my wines and champagnes. I also must admit to a guilty pleasure we people of Shreveport have right here in our city: a Libbey factory with an outlet shop. My my, the bargains!
This set of 12 Charisma Champagne Flutes is a wonderful bargain. I prefer a little more delicate flute, but this one certainly is a pleasant glass to serve champagne and sparkling wines at any gathering. Drop one, break it, I won't cry because it is easy and inexpensive to replace.
Now a lesson in flutes. Those flat-shaped glasses that one sees are very inappropriate for serving champagne and sparklies. A flute serves a very real purpose. First, one must acknowledge that wine drinking is a pleasure, not just a beneficial, healthy habit. (Don't get me started on getting yourself inebriated on wine! That's an act of a ill-mannered boob!)
So, the flute allows you to examine the bubbles. The smaller the bubble, the better quality of champagne you are drinking. It is also a pleasure to sort of "get lost" in the trail of effervescence. Libbey also makes flutes with round tops that extend straight up from the bowl, like an inverted tee-pee. I prefer the ones that tilt inward a bit, like the Charisma. This allows for aroma enhancement and inhaling.
Last note: "Champagne" comes from France. They own the word. Others like it from anywhere else in the world are designated "sparkling wines." Show your knowledge and class in referring to them thusly. Yes, I felt silly and snobby at first, but when using the correct term becomes a habit, then saying anything else feels silly. (I was married to a wine and spirits salesman for many years, in case you are wondering how I know these things and many more related fun and beneficial facts.)

I bought these for an under $20 exchange gift for the office gift exchange game. My co-workers fought for them. Very nice flutes. Great for guests. Inexpensive, so you won't mind if they're broken.
