The canisters themselves close well are functional and pretty. The shipping from Target.com via amazon wasn't so good. One of the glass jars was completely smashed when I received it via postal delivery.

With all the BPA plastics scare, these glass spice jars are great for baby food storage and heating! After three months of heavy use, they seem to be bottle warmer, microwave and dishwasher safe. Each lid has an air-tight seal made of pliable plastic, BPA most likely, but if these are not heated, they are reported to be 'safe'. I love this set and have purchased one for my house and one for my Mom's.
